Responsible For
What You’ll Do:
Oversight, review and approval of all relevant Federal, State and Local tax and legislative returns to include input on State nexus and unitary filing requirements etc.
US tax input into the tax due diligence process relating to US acquisitions, including anticipated tax treatment of goodwill etc.
US tax analysis of post-acquisition integration and reorganizations.
US tax input into the business change process across the range of US businesses – supporting the US tax analysis of new business lines, products and US office openings.
Own the US tax reporting process including leading and managing the US tax audit relationship.
Work closely with Group Tax on cross-border issues such as US financing and transfer pricing.
Setting the US tax strategy and engaging with senior stakeholders to ensure that the US tax framework is optimized and understood.
Leading on and establishing and maintaining governance frameworks as required to ensure compliance with US tax and relevant legislation.
Own US customer/vendor tax reporting process e.g. 1099s and 1042S
Ensure tax compliance is in line with the group tax risk appetite.
Ensure effective use of external advisors as appropriate.
What We’re Looking For:
A qualified tax professional with a strong financial services background, developed within practice or industry. Experience of working with FCMs and broker dealers.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and US tax accounting, particularly in the acquisition space.
A strong generalist experience able to effectively manage and coordinate the full suite of US tax obligations.
Experience of operating in a capital markets environment inc. s871(m).
Demonstrable experience of building or improving a US tax function.
Familiar with working in an international tax environment – good working knowledge of transfer pricing and interaction between the UK and the US.
Strong management & organizational skills, extremely proactive and able to work independently.
Ability to work in a fast-paced matrixed and acquisitive environment.
